Are you brave enough to face the Fear Factory challenge?
This year’s Fear Factory is a full meal, and the only thing missing... is dessert. This annual challenge is meant to stretch the limits of what your mind and palette can accept as ice cream- these aren’t gross-out flavors, but intended to challenge your perceptions.
On Friday, October 29th anytime between 4-10PM at The Charmery Ice Cream Factory, guests can participate in the Fear Factory challenge for $10, which includes a baby scoop of each of the five flavors. Costumes optional, bravery required. Invite your friends on the Fear Factory Facebook Event!
Fear Factory flavors will remain available Halloween weekend at the Ice Cream Factory, open Saturday & Sunday from 2-9PM.
Starting on Wednesday, October 27th, thrill-seeking at-home ice cream tasters can purchase individual packages with scoops to-go of all five flavors, available in limited quantities at The Charmery Hampden, Towson, and Columbia.
First Course
Broccoli Cheddar
As a chill enters the air, nothing quite warms the soul like a bowl of creamy Broccoli Cheddar soup. This flavor riffs on that flavor combo. We took buttered broccoli and sharp cheddar to create an ice cream that will both confuse and chill your soul to the core!
Coconut Shrimp
Straight outta the appetizer section comes this play off the sweet, crunchy, salty menu mainstay. We paired sweet toasted coconut with a shrimp cracker base, for a tropical flavor blast.
Main Course
Cacio e Pepe
This rustic pasta dish is pure uncomplicated comfort food. This dish perfectly combines a beautiful bowl of spaghetti with melted butter, fresh cracked pepper and Pecorino Romano cheese. For its ice cream counterpart, we grated the same cheese and pepper and added pasta bits throughout. The end result is like a cold hug with a peppery finish.
Scarborough Fair
“Are you going to Scarborough Fair?”
This flavor is an infusion of parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme because every meal is elevated with the addition of fresh herbs! In ice cream form, this flavor is mellow, herbal, and has a bit of a peppermint finish thanks to the sage.
Cool Beans
What meal is complete without the perfect side dish? Picture this- you're sitting at a crackling campfire on a crisp fall night with a big pot of beans getting all warm. We fire-roasted baked beans and then cooked them down with maple syrup for this cold, yet belly warming flavor.
